How to Find a Good Auto Repair Shop

Is the selection process to finding a good repair shop daunting to you? Here is my advise on finding one that has the signs of being trustworthy, dependable, and friendly.

I’ve spoken at lots of events and seminars, being the owner of 9 (soon to be 10) auto repair shops in the DMV area, and I am often asked, “How do I find a good auto repair shop?” I love to give advice on this. If you’re looking for an auto repair shop, you obviously want to find someone you can trust, someone you like, and can have a good relationship with. I don’t recommend hopping from auto repair shop to auto repair shop, but to start by doing a little research on the internet. Look at testimonials given about each shop and check out their website – how much information do they offer you? You should be able to learn a lot from an auto repair shop’s website. See if they offer warranties on their products and services. Find out who has been in business for a long time, and then try someone for a small service such as an oil change or a brake job. See how they interact and communicate with you. Also see if the shop is clean and organized; generally, a clean and organized shop is a clean and organized individual working on your car. Another thing to look out for is if there is a nice place to wait – you don’t want you or your husband or wife to wait in a nasty, cramped area. At Curry’s we have a spacious waiting room with wifi access, coffee, and a television usually with the option of playing video games while you wait.

I think affiliations are important too. For example at Curry’s our Tire Pros affiliation gives our customers a 2 year, 24 thousand mile nationwide warranty, offering customers peace of mind. We also have a 12 month free roadside assistance program from any tow service. So if you had any work done at Curry’s in the last 12 months and you find yourself stuck somewhere, we’ll pay to have a tow truck come out and start you up or get you towed back to the store. Also very important is to be affiliated with Bosch. ASC certifications are very important for technicians to have, as well as an ongoing and robust training program. At Curry’s Auto Service we take great pride in our training program – and our employees.

Also, take a tour of the shop to check if their equipment is new and up to date. Curry’s has the best equipment and the best people who will stand behind their work, which is super important.

So these are some things to look for in an auto repair shop. My name is Matt Curry, we’d love to have you come to Curry’s Auto Service, if you ever need anything else please give me a call 1-888-8CURRYS!
